Hamlet 3.3 and 3.4

5. I am thoroughly disappointed! The play has been building up for so long, and the way in which we are informed that Clausius is the murderer is so annoying! Claudius is basically talking to him self on stage and begins talking about the guilt he feels. He is nervous about Hamlet because he believes his craziness could lead to him being caught. He does not know how to ever repent for his sin which makes him upset and scared. I did not like this "confession". I didn't think it had an interesting plot line at all...Shakespeare could have included it in a scene with more people or a more action filled confession. SPEECH: (3.3.50-75).

7. I feel kind of sorry for Gertrude. Even though she has committed a horrible crime, I think Hamlet is coming down way too hard on her. I think she has the right to make decisions for herself. When Hamlet is condemning her, he pits her below him. Hamlet is consistently reminding of her guilt and it making rude comments. He does not respect her as a woman, nor a mother.

5. I am a little confused with Hamlet. I can not tell when he is acting crazy or whether he actually is crazy. He seems really nervous to kill his uncle. In act there, scene three, Hamlet considers killing his uncle while he is praying as revenge. He contemplates this idea for a few hours (3.3.77-92). After debating some pros and cons, he decides not to because he is very nervous, (procrastinating). He decides in the end, that he would rather kill him when he was performing in ancestors actives.
